Chinese New Year at CCSS!
The Chinese New Year, otherwise known as the “Spring Festival”, ushers in a period of family celebration and community festivities and lasts for fifteen days. The date changes from year to year and is determined by the lunar calendar. Last month, students at Clarington Central Secondary School (Bowmanville) enjoyed a performance depicting this colourful and fascinating ritual. It is the most important holiday in the Chinese calendar as well as the most joyous. Chinese New Year serves as a celebration of life’s renewal, heralding the coming springtime as a time of reunion for family and friends.
